We provide delicious traditional, and modern, home-cooked meals delivered with kindness and care.

Today is Aged Care Employee Day, a moment set aside to recognise the people who show up every single day to ensure older Australians are cared for with dignity, compassion, and genuine heart.

Across Australia, around 456,000 aged care workers quietly and selflessly make life better for the 1.3 million older Australians receiving aged care services. Their work is personal, it is demanding, and it is too often unsung.

At The Village Chef, we are lucky to have a team that embodies everything this day stands for. From our kitchen staff and coordinators to our drivers and volunteers, every single person plays a role in ensuring the older people in our community feel nourished, respected, and cared for.

Today we say it loudly and with great pride. Thank you for caring!

A meal can fill a plate. Connection fills something much deeper.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week, a reminder that loneliness isn’t simply about being alone. It’s about feeling disconnected, unseen or forgotten.

At The Village Chef, we often say we’re more than just a meal. Those words aren’t a slogan - they’re something we see every day.

Behind every meal is a kitchen team who prepare food with care, knowing it will arrive on someone’s table. Behind every delivery is an office team who thoughtfully coordinate hundreds of meals and volunteers, making sure no one is overlooked. And behind every knock on the door is a volunteer who offers something that can’t be packed into a container - a smile, a conversation, a familiar face and a moment of genuine human connection.

For some of the people we visit, that may be the only face-to-face conversation they have that day.

Our volunteers don’t always know the impact of the few minutes they spend at the doorstep. Our staff don’t always see the conversations that happen when a meal is delivered. But together, they create something much greater than a meal. They remind people that someone is thinking of them, that someone noticed if they weren’t there, and that they remain an important part of our community.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we’d like to thank every member of our team and every volunteer. Your kindness, consistency and quiet acts of care make a difference in ways that are often unseen.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful part of what we deliver isn’t what’s inside the meal - it’s the message that comes with it:

“You matter. We’ll see you again tomorrow.” 💚

We are so grateful to the wonderful team at Vino-Tas, a fine wine store on Sydney's North Shore, for supporting The Village Chef by displaying one of our donation boxes on their counter. It is a small gesture that means a great deal to us and to the older Australians and people living with disability who rely on our meals and care every day.

Vino-Tas believes that wine is more than a product. It is a story, a shared moment, and a reason to gather. We could not think of a more fitting partner for an organisation that believes a meal is never just a meal either.

If you are on the North Shore and love a beautiful bottle, head in and show them some love. And if you feel moved to drop something in our donation box while you are there, we will be endlessly grateful!

For the month of August, The Village Chef will have our very own jar at Grill'd Macquarie Centre as part of their Local Matters program. Every month, Grill'd distributes $500 between three local community groups, and it is the customers who decide where the money goes. Each time you visit, you receive a token to place in the jar of the group you want to support.

It is a simple act that makes a real difference. Every dollar we receive goes directly toward delivering nourishing meals and genuine care to older people and those living with disability in our community.

So if you are heading to Macquarie Centre this August, stop into Grill'd, grab a burger, and pop your token in our jar. It takes two seconds and means the world to us.

For the month of Aug

Our meals are made to work for you.

We offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options because we know our community has diverse needs. We also provide gluten-free bread on request, cut-up chilled meals, and pureed roast options for those who need them.

As a not-for-profit, we can't customise every meal the way larger providers might. But your feedback genuinely shapes our menu, and with enough demand, we can grow what we offer.

If you have specific medical dietary requirements, we always recommend checking in with your GP or dietitian first so you get the right care for your needs.

Every meal we deliver comes with heart, and we'll keep listening.

We are thrilled to announce that The Village Chef has been chosen as one of ten community groups to pitch at the upcoming Community Bank Lindfield Community Pitch 2026.

Think Shark Tank, but warmer, more community-minded, and with a room full of local businesses and individuals who genuinely want to make a difference.

Each group gets three minutes to pitch their project to a room of Pitch Partners who have collectively contributed to a funding pool, and at the end of the night they choose where their pledged funds go.

We have an exciting project and collaboration that we are passionate about bringing to life, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to share it.

Watch this space. We will have more to share very soon!

Every meal we deliver is held to a standard.

Thanks to the generous support of Community Bank Lindfield, we are proud to be working through our Nutrition Standards Enhancement Project, a dedicated effort to strengthen the nutritional quality of every meal that leaves our kitchen. This means rigorous food quality checks, detailed nutrition analysis, and a commitment to ensuring every dish genuinely meets the dietary needs of the people we serve.

For our clients, many of whom rely on our meals as a primary source of daily nutrition, this work is not a nice to have. It is essential. And we are grateful to have a community partner who understands that and believes in what we are doing.

Every meal we delive

It takes a village. Yesterday, we witnessed exactly what that looks like. ❤️🎄

Our inaugural Shared Tables - Christmas in July was far more than a festive lunch. It was a celebration of community, connection and belonging.

For many of our older Australians, the greatest gift wasn't the meal or the decorated hall - it was the conversations shared, the friendships rekindled, the music, and the reminder that they are seen, valued and deeply cared for.

A heartfelt thank you to Matt Cross MP Member for Davidson, for spending time with our clients and supporting our local community.

We were also honoured to welcome Meaghan Ang, Director of Community Development at Ku-ring-gai Council, and our partners from Community Bank Lindfield - Jennifer Anderson, Sharon Franke and Yvette Hu. Yvette, thank you for nominating The Village Chef for the Community Bank Lindfield Staff Grant.

To the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra, thank you for sharing your gift of music, creating an atmosphere of warmth, nostalgia and joy.

To our corporate volunteers from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, Right at Home Sydney Upper North Shore, and BNI Legends, Chatswood - thank you for showing up with open hearts and willing hands. You didn't just serve meals; you shared conversations, laughter and dignity, reminding our clients they belong to a community that cares.

A special thank you to Dovida North Shore & Northern Beaches for our Best Dressed prizes, and Right at Home for our raffle prizes.

To our Board, staff and volunteers - this day belongs to you. With access to the hall only 30 minutes before guests arrived, what could have been a challenge became an inspiring display of teamwork. In just 18 minutes, it was transformed to welcome over 150 guests.

Yesterday also marked an early celebration of our Nutrition Standards Enhancement Project, supported by Community Bank Lindfield. While it is concluding, its impact is only just beginning.

At The Village Chef, we often say we are more than just a meal. Yesterday was living proof.

It takes a village to ensure no one grows old feeling forgotten. Yesterday, our village came together in the most beautiful way.

This is what community looks like. This is The Village Chef. ❤️

At The Village Chef, nutrition analysis is built into how we work.

Every meal we deliver comes with reliable, transparent food information because our clients and customers deserve to know exactly what they are eating and why it is good for them. It is not something we do for the sake of a label. It is part of our genuine commitment to the health and wellbeing of the people we serve.

Evidence-based nutrition practices sit alongside quality ingredients and careful preparation to ensure every meal supports the diverse needs of our community.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is one we take seriously.

If you are a nutrition or health student considering your next placement, this one is worth watching.

We asked one of our placement students to share what their time at The Village Chef has been like, and their answer says more about who we are than we ever could ourselves. From the kitchen to the community, this experience offers something genuinely different, real work, real impact, and a team that welcomes you from day one.

We love supporting the next generation of health professionals and are always open to students who want to make their placement count.
